How can you get involved?

THE LIVING ROOM:

GYB hosts gatherings for creative dialogue and sharing perspectives. Within this meeting is the GYB Circle, time dedicated to asking questions of your community. Your voice is heard. 

WORKING GROUPS:

GYB creates working groups focused on needs identified in discussion groups.
Facilitators will be rotating, in order to respect people’s time and to provide many perspectives. Current groups and facilitators are:

Acting Training facilitated by Jennifer Wigmore, Sarah Robbins & Neil Silcox. We are looking at professional development for artists who teach. We are currently organizing an artists-led conference being held on May 27 & 28, 2019 at the Tarragon Theatre. Want to get involved in this working group? Arts Boards Governance facilitated by Briony Glassco. For 2019, GYB will continue to circulate this letter to selection committees to theatre boards. Want to get involved in this working group? Send an email to Got Your Back with the subject line: GOVERNANCE.

Leadership facilitated by Martha Burns, Jackie Maxwell, Miriam Fernandes & Eva Barrie. We are working towards answering the needs identified by multicultural and generational emerging and mid-level artists. Want to get involved in this working group? Best Practices facilitated by Maev Beaty & Kimwun Peherenic. An initiative to gather peer and expert advice on Best Practices with the intention of creating an online and published document available to union and non-union, large-scale and Independent performing arts organizations across the industry. This will include, but is not limited to, tips for best practices and suggested industry standards for scenarios including audition protocol, establishing the rehearsal process culture on the first day, strategies for staging scenes of intimacy, strategies for addressing bullying behaviour, Suggestion for inclusive language. Want to get involved in this working group?
